Hello TVC Carvers,
Alameda County Fair Highlights
June is already here, and July is shaping up to be an active month for the club. As of this writing, we are well into our Alameda County Fair activities, and our members have made a strong showing in the Hobby Building.
- Club members demonstrated more than 260 hours of wood carving during the fair.
- Fairgoers showed strong interest and enjoyed many conversations with our demonstration team.
- Wood carving entries remained consistent with previous years, with 40 total entries.
Competition Results
- Of the 40 wood carving entries, 36 were submitted by TVC club members.
- Five members received first-place awards, six received second-place awards, and six received third-place awards.
- Mike Prokosch won Best of Show for his “Grand Slam.”
- The club also earned first place and the theme award for its cabinet presentation.
4-H Youth Wood Carving Program
This year’s fair included 10 youth wood carving entries, thanks once again to our 4-H wood carving program. The project received many positive comments from the public, and the young participants did an excellent job representing the program.
Thank You
A special thank-you goes to the dedicated teachers who supported this event: Ken Morgan and Bob Kehl. Great work, everyone!
Zoom sessions every Mon at 7-8 pm.

The Last Word
Another month comes around and I still hope you’ve read this far. As previously mentioned we’re in the process of updating and hopefully improving our website and our newsletter. Please be patient, and it wouldn’t hurt to hear a few more of our members asking “What can I do to help?“
Let us know if you liked this Tri-Valley Carvers’ newsletter. Also, what would you like to see in our future newsletters? And have you ever seen a strawberry duck? Please let us know in the comments below.
