From the President Bob Kehl

Hello, TVC Carvers. Here we are again in July already! As of this writing, we are well into the Alameda County Fair event. Our club members really have participated by demonstrating over 120 hours in the Hobby building for wood carving. In the June newsletter, I presented a breakdown of how well we did in this year’s event. There was a lot of interest and conversation from the fairgoers with our Demo Folks. Wood carving entries quantities were great this year compared to previous years.

Don’t forget the annual TVC Picnic on July 25th!!!!

The picnic will be at Ken and Jeanne Morgan’s house from 12 to about 4pm. This is one of the few times we can meet the spouses or significant others of our wood carving family. There is a need to share “potluck” items for this event.  We will need items like salads, appetizers and desserts to share if you want. Let Ken know what you plan to bring, so we have an even spread of the items. The Club provides the main fixings and some drinks. so COME and ENJOY!!

The next upcoming TVC event is Art under the Oaks at Alden Lane Nursery, 981 Alden Lane in Livermore. This year the event is open to the public from 11am to 4pm on July 18 -19th. We are participating in this event as guests of the Nursery. There have been some changes in the venue, as we will be sharing the room with several art folks and the Wine tasting group. We will have only about three 8ft tables available for individual sales and demonstration of woodcarving. Since we are so limited with tables and space, we will be sharing the tables as needed. Set up for the tables is Friday July 17th after 4pm or Saturday July 19th before 10am. There is a gate near the building that will be open to aid in unloading your goodies on this day. Parking during the event days will have to be off site, but the Nursery is providing a free shuttle to and from offsite parking. We plan to have our TVC raffle prize ready to sell tickets at this event.

Pleasanton Library Showcase Set-up: Saturday, Aug. 1. We would like to have a variety of your carvings for the display case in the lobby of the Pleasanton Library, 400 Old Bernal Ave. Set up is Saturday, August 1, at 10:30:00pm. Please put your name on your items. We get to display our work for the month of August. What a great way to advertise our up-coming show in September – for free!!

Zoom sessions every Mon at 7-8 pm.

Another month comes around and I still hope you’ve read this far. As previously mentioned we’re in the process of updating and hopefully improving our website and our newsletter. Please be patient, and it wouldn’t hurt to hear a few more of our members asking “What can I do to help?
