In 1973 Livermore was the home of a small gathering of carvers. Group functions were held in ‘The Barn’ at that time. We were the 5th club to join the new California Carvers Guild. In 1997 things had changed finances became a factor and the growing membership moved to Pleasanton. We have met in the Pleasanton Senior Center since then.
We meet in the Wood Shop of the Senior Center. All of our shop monitors and officers are volunteers with big hearts. Carving is a hobby for us and we enjoy the rewards of sharing with others.
Our main goal is to promote the art of woodcarving and we do this by demonstrating at community events, teaching soap and wood carving in schools and local Boy and Girl Scout groups, carving classes, drop-in groups for carvers only, and an annual carvers show. We impact community events, street fairs, etc, doing carving demonstrations and talking to the public about carving.
